If you are ever arrested, you will probably experience quite a bit of stress. But don’t panic. Austin is the only city in Texas that offers this option as a way to get out of jail that same night. Basically, a hobby release is when the police release you into the custody of your lawyer. Your lawyer, in turn, will guarantee that you will appear at your bail hearing the next day. If you are arrested late at night or in the early morning hours, a judge might not be available to conduct your bail hearing. In this situation, a hobby release could be beneficial.

Hobby releases give you the option to be released from jail on the same night as you were arrested. Without this option, you would have to wait until around noon the next day for a judge to hear your bail case. When you are released from jail, you will be required to appear at the courthouse by 10:00 AM for your official bail hearing. If you don’t appear on time, the court will put a warrant out for your arrest for failure to appear.
